How the Dragon Got Its Fire
A long, long time ago there was a Dragon that lived in a cave in a
volcano. Every day the inhabitants of the volcano would meet in a cave called
the Meeting Grounds to talk about the things that they heard and the things
that happened to them.
One day he overheard a Phoenix talking about how he had
seen these legendary Fire Spirits. The Dragon asked the Phoenix what the Fire
Spirits were? The Phoenix said the fire spirits were an immortal group of gods
that controlled all of the fire in the universe. The Dragon asked the Phoenix
where he had seen the Fire Spirits. The Phoenix told the Dragon she had seen
the fire spirits in a secret volcano that only the chosen could find and, when
you find the fire spirits you can join them but first you need to complete a
series of brutal tests.
The Dragon asked the Phoenix where the Volcano was but
the Phoenix said she can't tell anyone where the volcano is or she would be
cursed for infinite time. Well the Dragon, if you didn't know, was a very
determined beast who when wanted to get something done would get it done and
that was the feeling he felt just then. That night he made a plan to find the
volcano and then pretend like he had been chosen to join the Fire Spirits. The
Dragon felt that the plan was a long shot but it might just work.
Early the
next morning the Dragon set off into the wild in search of the Fire Spirits
volcano. The Dragon knew the Fire Spirits would have chosen a very hidden
volcano that only certain creatures could find. The Dragon decided to look
everywhere from peak of present day Mount Everest to the center of the Earth.
After searching all those places the Dragon remembered that he hadn't searched
the ocean. But the Dragon thought to himself the ocean is too large to search
by myself. But as you know the Dragon is very determined and will always do
what it takes to accomplish what he feels is important.
The Dragon swam the
ocean for hours but nothing, found and just as the was going to give up he saw
a light coming from a small cavern. That light wasn't any ordinary light it was
warm and made you feel hopeful. Well the Dragon felt all those things and
followed the light to its source where after hours of searching he found the
Fire Spirits. The Dragon couldn't believe he had found the Fire Spirits
volcano. Just then a voice boomed around them that said "Have you have
been chosen to join the Fire Spirits?" The Dragon said, "Yes I have
been chosen to become a Fire Spirit." Then a large crack formed in the
ground and the dragon got swept in with the current of the rushing water. When
the Dragon finally got out of the current he found himself in a cave filled
with water and lava and standing right in front of him were the Fire Spirits!
Then the Fire Spirit in the middle spoke and said, "How did you find this
sacred volcano when we never chose you to be chosen?" The Dragon tried to look confused and said
"But if I wasn't chosen how did I find this place.
The second Fire Spirit
to the right said "Don' t try fooling us we know when someone is lying to
us!" Then the largest Fire Spirit said "Get out now or we will start
using force." But as you know the
Dragon was very determined to become a Fire Spirit so the Dragon didn't budge. But
the Fire Spirits didn't give the Dragon any warning they were going to attack
the him. So, when they threw balls of fire at the Dragon he was caught
completely off guard. This made the Dragon furious and when the Dragon gets
angry he gets really angry.
Now the Dragon wasn't going to give up without a
fight. So, for five hours they fought and fought a brutal battle when finally,
the Dragon grabbed them and banged them against the wall which knocked out the
fire spirits. After that the Dragon took the Fire Spirits back to his cave the
Dragon wondered what he was going to do with the Fire Spirits. Then the Dragon
thought of an excellent but cruel and hot plan. He would eat the fire spirits and
then he would be the only Fire Spirit left.
That night after a big ruckus put
up by the by the Fire Spirits they finally went to sleep and the Dragon got his
to eat them. But as he touched one of them all of the Fire Spirits started
flying around the Dragon faster and faster and suddenly the flew into his
mouth. For a few minutes he felt a burning sensation all around his body. When
the burning sensation was gone the Dragon took a big breath and when he let the
breath out the Dragon blew flames out of his mouth which burned his face really
badly.
And ever since then the Dragon has been reminded of his choice to try
and become a Fire Spirit.
